Re: ELO implementation, half baked?

Maybe this would require a better match-making algorithm as well. I'm not looking for unranked games, I am looking for good matches. So maybe an option to constrain matched players to within a certain percentage of your own score? Seconding this (although giving people a percentage to later is horr...

Re: Question about half-height cover and vision

Use "v" to check you line of visibility. You'll see where you can see, and whether you'd be able to see a person standing or crouching at a particular point. Also shows you maximum range which is useful for Shotguns.

Re: [HOWTO] Extracting player statistics

I've made a quick C# program that will make the .csv for Windows users. Available Here . 1. Extract the .rar to pretty much anywhere 2. Run FSParser.exe 2a. You might need .NET framework or something to make this go 3. If you want it to output somewhere other than your desktop, click the Output Dire...

Re: Avatars: please vote!

Anime, anime, anime, kitten, swastika, penis, anime. I'm voting no. Apart from the reasons above, the main thing is that I feel it would significantly detract from the overall look and feel of the game. Frozen Synapse has a consistent and strong stylistic approach, and not one that I feel fits with ...

Re: [Suggestion] Alternative "Wait" mode

To be honest, when I first mentioned it I was really only using the time thing to wait, I didn't put any actions on it. I'd just put lots of waypoints on the same spot because I found it easier to work out what order things would happen in. Now I use the timeline more for putting actions on i'm awar...

Re: Do you understand synapse cover rules?

"V" aiming should show you what amount of cover a unit at a particular place would be in. Colour code the line perhaps?

Re: [Suggestion] Alternative "Wait" mode

Hey guys. I don't want to weigh in on this issue too hard, but I thought I'd give a quick "official stance". I understand totally what Lu-Tze is asking for and why. However, I believe that giving people the ability to engage for a set amount of time and then break off (which would be the side-effec...

Re: The unmentioned 5th combatrule: Global Aimcounters

@Lu-tze I wouldn't mind your proposal, but I think it leaves some odd edge cases still. Imagine a room with 2 doors near a corner, one on the north wall and one on the west wall. Our shooter is in the room somewhat in between the two windows. Then imagine a room with 2 door along the same wall and ...

Re: The unmentioned 5th combatrule: Global Aimcounters

By the way, the unit is in cover 1/4th of the time. Was that measured on the timeline in game, or is that simply matter of fact based on the fact there are 3 units of space between each unit sized pillar? Because my point (and very quick and dirty measurements) were based on the fact that due to th...

Re: Wishlist thread

[UI/System] Tournaments. Arranging them outside of the game is easy enough, but it would be better if the system could just handle all the semantics of running a series of knockout games, and arraning the next round of matches etc. Ideally each round would be running Duplicate levels too, just for t...

Re: Feature Announcement: Duplicate

Reverse is nice if you're playing someone you actually know, as opposed to trying to top the leaderboards. I would also imagine it would be the de facto choice for Tournaments.

Re: The unmentioned 5th combatrule: Global Aimcounters

This thread would be easier to stomach without your pretension. I think your third example (and first for that matter) paints a bit of an optical illusion. We see very narrow pieces of cover, and assume the gaps to be wider than they actually are. Some quick measurements say that across the full len...

Re: [Suggestion] Challenge Mode

Rockets and Grenades WOULD need to have a high associated cost, but also if your Challenge involves Hostage rescue their placement can make such heavy handed tactics unfeasible. As I said, it's not about completing the Challenge. With immobile opponents actually completing it is probably trivial bec...

[Suggestion] Challenge Mode

Challenge Mode would be a slightly more drastic change/addition to the game to many other gamemodes i've seen suggested, but the concept is this... One player, or the devs, setup a level with an objective. Might be hostage rescue, might be simple elimination. The idea, however, is to make a perfect ...
