Re: Frozen Synapse League

I would also vote for Dark Charge, Dark Disputed, Light Secure.

Re: Frozen Synapse League

What constitutes an "unfair map" can vary wildly from person to person. Most people looking at a map see it from the perspective of the strategies they would use, or the strategies that they remember other people using. I usually enjoy playing on maps that look slanted or highly asymmetrical, since ...

Tell your friends about the tournament and sign-up here: http://frozensynapseleague.createaforum.com/index.php FYI, I'll sign up for those other forums if it's absolutely necessary, but the chat room is generally about the only part of the community that I pay much attention to. I found this forum ...

Re: Frozen Synapse League

I'm signed up right now in the Challonge tournament, but then I realized that you may not have been around for the DGL tournaments, and I figured I'd come in and verify some things. For reference, here are the rules that DGL used: 1) The 3 matches have to be Dark Disputed, Light Secure, and Dark Cha...

Re: The new, additional challenge system

Instead of level, could it also be possible to limit opponents by their rating? So I could set up a challenge for anybody rated 1300+ for example?

Also, I like the idea of setting up a challenge that can be accepted by N number of opponents.

Re: Mid-game turn outcome change

This just happened to IAMNIETZSCHE and me, game 315336. His MG did not actually die when turn 2 resolved for the first time.

Re: THE MODE 7 HOTLINE

You might consider this a fundamental change, but having played a few games by now I have twice come over situations where I face of opponents where we both end up with a Rocket Launcher each That is part of the strategy of using rockets - you have to leave enough walls for your rocketeers to still...

Jefis has a good example of a weird glitch that could be related: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcRK-wU6okM

Re: THE MODE 7 HOTLINE

You didn't by any chance lose any other matches in the last hour or so? Possibly by timeout? Last game I lost was 15 hours ago against Meneth, on Secure. Since then I won 3 games in the last two hours: ID: 279255, vs bezdomniy, Extermination +40 for me ID: 279466, vs hab2000, Extermination +60 for ...

Re: THE MODE 7 HOTLINE

I've just won against bezdomniy (score rank 1231) on Extermination +40 and I lost 6 pts. That's it. I will not play against opponents with score rank below 1300. According to my interpretation of the code Omroth posted on his blog , you should have gained ~2.3 points from that win. Hopefully Omroth...

Re: THE MODE 7 HOTLINE

I apologize for clogging up the "hotline" thread with this, but in response to Jefis' valid concern, I created a JavaScript version of the rating calculator: http://error420.com/fs_elo_calculator/ It is based on the code that Ian posted on the Mode7 blog. All of the calculation happens on the client...

Re: THE MODE 7 HOTLINE

Just check this out and tell me if there is something wrong :) Jefis - 1621,71 points , 159-44 w/l Now I play a game against Estebano rank 23369, dark extermination 3 vs 3 I win 3-0 and get 60 points. What was his rating? Meneth thought he was ~1190, so that's what I used. I implemented the last kn...

Re: Mode7 you need to start supporting the game further.

And what's more, I think most of the other top players do too - my impression of the hardcore FS culture is that the good players usually aren't afraid of playing someone else with units that take them out of their comfort range. No TehShrike, is not about "afraid", it's waste of time to play with ...

Re: ELO implementation, half baked?

And to anyone postulating the game isn't "fair" Is completely mistaken in my eyes. This is the new and improved Chess. It takes the original true purpose of competition based on thinking. In the case of chess it was brute force "thinking turns ahead" with only so many outcomes. In frozen synapse th...
