Weird Visuals

Postby noise » Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:22 pm

Whenever I see my character on the screen, I see this:

Image

it's not static, as these graphical artifacts flash in and out and all over the place.

I've tried every single setting, turning them off and on, setting everything on the absolute lowest, windowed, full screen, and changing compatibilities and nothing seems to be working.

My specs:

Intel T2500 2.0GHz Dual-Core
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon x1400 (latest drivers)

If you need any other information, please feel free to ask. Thank you in advance.

They look like overheating artifacts. Are you overclocking your card?
Do you get this in any other 3D games?

No, not overclocking.

No, I don't get this in other games.

Hi noise, I'm sorry you're having problems with Determinance.

Can you confirm that you're running 1.7? (It says at the bottom right of the Launcher).

I'm looking into this problem, but I'm stuck right now. If you' d like to test a couple of things, open

program files/determinance/dt/client/prefs.cs

It's just possible that changing one of the settings starting $pref::Video and $pref::OpenGL might work. Now obviously you probably don't want to do that ;) but I'm just giving you the option while I look into it here. This sounds like an old ATI issue so I'm suprised you're getting it with these drivers.

How much RAM does your gfx card have?

Here are the specs of my video card as taken from dxdiag:

ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
Approx. Total Memory: 256.0 MB

I will try playing around with some settings after work. Are there any specific ones I should try? Thanks for trying to help.

Hi noise, thanks for that.

Can you try turning everything that looks like it can be turned off, off? Everything that has $pref::video::someFeature = 1; changing that to = 0 may help. A massive pain, but trying a slightly older version of Catalyst (if that's even possible) might be useful.

I'm getting a blank so far on this, but am still looking. Of course if you have purchased the full version of Determinance and we can't resolve this issue we will give you a full refund.

I figured it out. The following setting needs to be set:

$pref::OpenGL::disableEXTCompiledVertexArray = "1";

I hope this helps with your bug fixes. Thanks for the help.
