You can get two tracks from DT's soundtrack here:

Feel free to tell us what you think.

Pretty good. BTW will this be the music used in fighting or just menu only? Id like to see this on fighting cause it would make it to feel very cool. Smile

The music is used during the fighting. Not only that, but it's dynamic! Find out more here.

Apotheosis - not a combat music, imo. Its more of a soundtrack for my little game (abstract, arcady, 2d, geometry-wars-like) Smile

Spacetime - has some good bits that might suit the fighting nature of the game (from 3:45 to 4:30). The bit from 4:40 to 5:20 would be excellent for a menu background.

Generally, it is TOO CHEERFUL for a fighting game.

Basically, you need something brutal.

^^^^^^^ last post is from me. Forgot to log-in after registering :-\

PS: Consider the following tracks as a guide:

Psychlopedia - The Gurningpoint (Miranda Rmx)
Juno Reactor - Conquistador pt2
Groupie Syndrome - Pacemaker
Deedrah - Reload
Tim Schuldt - Restless
Juno Reactor - Samurai
Juno Reactor - Mona Lisa Overdrive
Juno Reactor - Wardogs
Twisted System - Disrespekt
Black Sun Empire - Don't You
Noisia - Concussion
Desimal - The Promist
Black Sun Empire - Boris The Blade
Desimal - Circle Of Nine
Black Sun Empire - Bitemark
Hardknox - Come In Hard
Hard Hop Heathen - Ohterior Motive
Wizard Of Oh - Off To Demention X
Overseer - Supermoves
Overseer - Skylight
Fluke - Atom Bomb
Lunatic Calm - The Sound
Raiden - Infection (E-Sassin remix)
Lunatic Calm - Roll The Dice
Junkie XL - Dealing With The Roster
Junkie XL - Mulu
Prodigy - SMBU
Prodigy - Firestarter

The styles to look at are Psy (and maybe Goa) trance, DarkStep/TechStep, BigBeat.

AVOID mainstream trance(!!!) and major/cheerful motives.

Mode 7 Music Department here - we have operators ready to take your call.

We like euphoric and epic music - I would have liked something which sounds a little harder, however I prefer a strong melody to something which is all dischordant and "fight music" - esque. So I went with that.

Ideally, Dt's score would have been done with a full orchestra with electronic processing after that, but we don't have cash for that kind of crazy outlay, so it was down to me to come up with something distinctive which works.

I'm proud of the soundtrack and how it fits with the game, but it won't suit everyone and that's just life.

That would be pretty cool Smile

It is distinctive, yes Smile

You might be right and it might fit the gameplay perfectly. We'll see tomorrow Smile

Oh, and dont get me wrong, I think that both tracks are VERY well produced. Its just the concepts of sword fighting and "paulvandyke-like-trance" dont quite fit together in my head Smile

(too lazy to log in.. Wink)
But, maybe some SID remixes would be awesome. http://remix.kwed.org/
For example R-Type (Smooth Acid Mix) by Putzi. It's my favorite...
Although, does one have permission to use those remixes? And, does it fit your games style, is another question. But anyhoo, always worth a try. I'm jsut trying to get music I like into the game! Twisted Evil
Hey, are we able to change the music which play during the game?

Just listened to those tracks.

One thing I should say before I put any comments down though is that I hate trance.

But in the situation of sword fighting it may not be too bad - it makes me want to kill atleast. Smile

Though trance has never struck me as epic. Its easily repeatable which is good for big maps and long games but its not epic by any means in my view.

Cheers for the comments, Jon!

It's probably fair to say that if you don't like trance, it's unlikely that you'll be that keen on the music.

I'm not going to say anything about trance emerging from a subgenre which was actually called "epic house", because whether you find something epic or not is largely due to your personal taste.

Having said that, a lot of games are using orchestral music as a short-cut to epic, and that's become pretty staid now. Even though we were required to go all electronic for budget reasons, I'm pleased that the game sounds different from most other things out there currently, even if that sound is something that won't please everyone.

I like music so i'm going to reply to this.

I have to say that i dig both alot. Something that bugs me about spacetime is that it has such an ace punchy tune going on from 00:40 to about 1:10, and i think the main vibratey squarey sounding lead is really good but not as effective for me, so it kind of feels less epic where it should feel more and vice versa. That's a minor gripe though, and you're far more musically talented than me. Totally professional mixing and production and catches the spacey fantasy atmosphere of a DT duel in a big trancey net - nice job man.

Ah, the music on this game was terrible. Why were there no ZITHERS? I only like music with zithers, and this game should definitely have had some. More zithers!
