One month time out for entire match

Post by wonderhero » Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:31 am

I don't think "two weeks time out" for a turn is the right solution.
What about "one month time out" for entire game for each player ?

Reason 1:
Let's say I'm about to lose a game and want to delay my defeat as long as possible. So for the next 8 turns I can hide my units 8 turns x 2 weeks = 16 weeks of delay. Also this time not include my opponent's time. So a match with 8 turns can last maximum 8 turns x 2 weeks x 2 players = 32 weeks (8 months).

A game with "One month time out for entire game" for each player, can last maximum 4 weeks x 2 players = 8 weeks (2 months).

Reason 2:
Let's say I started a match in 01.Jan.2012 and my opponent is trying to delay with 2 weeks for each turn. If I''ll go in holidays in 01.March.2012 with no internet connection I can lose my game in 2 weeks.

What you think ?

So one month has passed and who is the winner?

Last person to commit a turn. If neither have commit, then it doesn't end.

WH - seems fair.

This doesn't save you when you go offline for 2 weeks, and you have some older then 2 weeks games. And there is a dangerous exploit https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... on_sniping
