Just abandon the match when losing?

Post by LarryEF » Fri Apr 06, 2012 6:34 am

AFAIK there is no penalty if one just stops playing when losing becomes apparent. Game mechanics don't prevent this and the scoring / ranking system even rewards this behavior.
A friend told me that it's part of the game and i should just adapt. It seems to be a viable tactic and game mechanics / scoring-system encourages players to play like this.
So realizing when I'm about to lose and to stop playing the match at this time is considered to be a "skill" ?
Is FS really meant to be played like this?

I don't see any effects.

I think the 2 week rule is still not working correctly. I have 3 games that have been > 2 weeks without the other player taking a turn, and they still show as active.

Billick, I presume that your opponent took at least one turn. In this case we have to write devs.

Yep, each game is several turns in. Sounds like they had it working at one point, but it stopped working for some reason. Fortunately most players aren't jerks, and will finish the game, even if they're losing.

There were a bunch of scoring bugs (including the one you are describing) when I stopped playing about a year ago. Judging by posts in the bugs forum, they're still there.

You can't - they should 'time-out' (and as long as you were the last player to prime a turn, you'll be awarded a win), but it looks like that system is broken again.

I believe you can hide games, but I don't know how, or if for sure, that can be done because I've never done it.
