Accused of cheating - plus something definitely wrong

Post by Tagadab » Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:50 am

I've only been playing this game a few days. I got into a game this evening where all I could see was 17 friendlies (green) and no enemy. I pointed this out to my opponent on chat and he said that he could see four of each, as per normal.

Then he accused me of cheating. I have a record of 7-0. (Some of those are actually draws but for some reason they count as 'wins' in that notation.)

I have not submitted a turn on this game, and I have a screenshot of the game with loads of greens and no reds which I'm happy to upload wherever it is needed (I tried attaching it to this post but it's 1.3M which is too big apparently). The game id is 583783.

I'd really like to be able to prove to him that I'm not cheating (I'm really not).

Hmmm! If the "info" field of active game list says "Matchmade" then the challenge should be autogenerated. Otherwise it is manually created by your opponent.
Unfortunately any challenger can still write "Matchmade" in "Info" field using Advance Setup. So we don't know if it's a bug or your opponent cheated.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that my opponent was cheating. Giving me all the units would be an odd way to cheat.

He says he saw 4 of each. I see 17 greens. Would somebody else load that game and tell me what they see?

Nobody can see an unfinished match.
It seems to be a bug.

It's a known issue.

Every so often the auto-generator gives one side, or both, a bazillion (slight exaggeration) units.

I've got about 4 or 5 games that I've abandoned for that very reason.

And, yeah, you get people that think you've deliberately set it up that way - I even had someone claiming that after I'd said I would be abandoning the match!

I can't find an option to abandon the match, where is that?

Definitely agree that there is a need for "forfeit" option. How useful is that to spend rounds with a rocket launcher versus a MG?...

There is no explicit 'abandon match' option.

Rather, one simply does not commit the first turn.

Then, when it's implemented, it will be declared a draw after the two-week time-out period has elapsed.
