[SOLVED] Splash Screen, then Crash

My issue was accidentally solved when I un-willingly installed an older version of DirectX, and then re-installed the latest version of DirectX.

Holy crap.

OS: Windows XP SP3
RAM: 1Gb (I know, I know. :( )
Video: NVidia Quadro FX Go1400 (very unusual video card)

Whenever I run the game, the main menu music starts playing, and I see the splash screen; and shortly thereafter, the game ceases to respond, and crashes.

I've 'updated' my drivers, I've restarted my computer, and so far, it hasn't fixed the problem.
The 'play offline' option is out of question, since the game doesn't load properly. Also, the file download link is dead.
It is not an ATI issue, since my video card is an NVidia.

If there is anything you might need from me, don't hesitate to ask.

Exact same problem with same log, different hardware config though, ATI HD6970.
Game is 100% unplayable, this issue needs to be fixed or alternatively a refund needs to be issued.

Guys, what happens if you actually rename psychoff/gameScripts/background.cs.dso to something else? Also, try music.cs.ds there too.

It does not actually crash per se, here's what happens:

Open the game from Steam, next the title and intro screens show up at about 2 FPS (measured with Fraps), I essentially see a slideshow for a couple minutes, then the screen goes black and I hear "Please log in!", more black screen and eventually the menu appears.

Then I start the tutorial, and the first time I did that the game would freeze every time I right-click to issue a command. The subsequent times I actually get about 5 minutes into the game before the freezing would start. By freeze I mean that Windows shows (Not responding) in the window frame, the screen may or may not receive a gray overlay, the controls do not work, the cursor is not responsive within the FS window but still works in the OS. The game would then recover after a few seconds and would then let me play for a few seconds more before the issue would repeat itself. This is regardless of whether I right-click or not.

Here's a fresh log from starting the game till I had to end the process from Windows because it would just freeze up every few seconds. This is at the default resolution of 800x600x32 playing in a window.

I deleted the local content and re-downloaded the game, the result is the same. The game hangs shortly after the first right-click order is given. From then on it hangs for several seconds, is available for a couple seconds and hangs again. Unplayable.

aaand one more, my problem only occurs in windowed mode, the game works fine in fullscreen. While that's still a bit annoying it's not nearly as frustrating as not being able to play at all.

The only difference is that the music stopped playing.

I'm having this problem on my Mac Pro.

I have the Steam version of FS.

Symptoms:
When I load Frozen Synapse, I see the splash screen, and the music plays for about 5 seconds before the app freezes, and doesn't seem to do anything further.

CPU: 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-core Xeon
RAM: 12GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.8

I tried reinstalling, to no avail.
