SOLUTION: Game Crashes During Startup

Post by Jimmeh » Fri Dec 06, 2013 10:58 pm

We currently know of two possible causes for this.

DirectX/Visual C++ Runtimes Not Installed
If you get an error message popping up about not having XSound or some other DLL you need to make sure that you have installed the DirectX Runtime and the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable.
Visual C++

Game Crashes At Torque Logo
This means that you've probably installed it in Program Files. You can either reinstall it to a different directory (e.g. the default) or you can change the permissions of the game's directory. Here is a guide on how to do this ... -Windows-7
We hope to have this fixed soon.

Running the game as Administrator (right-click -> run as Administrator) also fixes the crash at torque logo.

I have a fresh install of W8.1, and ran the DX updater that you linked in the OP. I don't have the game installed in programs, but in d:\games\Frozen Endzone

Yet when I start, it continues to ask for the Frozen Endzone.dll file.

Is it because I am not on the C drive?

Edit to add:
Not because it was on the D drive. When on the C drive, I still get the same error.

Edit 2: It appears that my DX install crashed. I am trying to reinstall it again to see what will happen.

Edit 3: Success!!
